Finally Done

It really was a lot of fun to make. The only problem I had was deciding on the pattern which I did as I went. There's so many options, sometimes it's hard to pick just one or two.
Now the next big step is writing up the pattern, that's the really hard part. Hard getting started. To me it's like writing programming code. You better not put a dc for an sc and you better not skip a chain here or there. It has to be perfect. I'm not perfect at anything so I have to check and check and check again. So I hope not to put it off too long.
As you can see I've changed my home page, the first step in switching over to the new host. It will be great when it's done but it's sure a lot of work. I try to build a page a day. But at a hundred or so pages, it'll take awhile. I thank everyone for their patience.
I always look through the ads in the paper and magazines to see what the new styles are, color combinations and just what people are wearing these days. Today I saw an add for a button up poncho/cape. It was right out of a pattern leaflet I have from the 70's. It had the slits in the sides for the arms and everything. Everything does really come back. Those were really easy to make too. I'll try to post the picture tomorrow.
I got got a shipment from Omega and it included 7 new yarns they are starting to make. They are awesome. Two of them are like fun fir but they are real pretty. Most of the others are blends of 3 or 4 strands of different textrures. I can't wait to try them. Wish I had about 4 more hours in each day just to crochet.
I think I'm going to start something new with some nylon. Haven't worked with it lately and I'm having withdrawal, need my fix. I made a toaster cover for a friend last xmas, maybe I'll make something along that line. It turned out real cute.
Back at it!
New Diamonte Shawl/Vest

I have been working on this thing it seems like forever. The thread is kind of thin but I am using an H hook. It's big though, one of those circle type designs with the armholes in one of the outer rounds. It's been fun designing but it's going to be a little hard to write up. I did make some notes as I went but I changed my mind so many times, it was hard to keep up. That's my biggest problem, writing as I go.
I am finishing the last round tonite and hope to take pictures over the weekend. Then I'll tackle the pattern. You'll really love working with this yarn, it flows and shows the stitch detail so well.
Diamonte is just like the Estilo but twice as thick. Estilo is real thin. Karen Drouin made Kim Guzman's Garden Party Wrap out of the Estilo and it's beautiful. Check it out on my home page. Karen just got published too so she's really excited right now.
Uploaded a new page today, replacing part of the old Notions/Accessories. It's going to be neat when I get all done but it's going to take a long time to do everything over. But it will be worth it.
I'm also changing my newsletter service and hope to have it going shortly. It's no fun to have a subscription to something that is pretty lame. It will be better I promise. And it will be easier to send out notifications.
I added some new snaps I just got in. Big and real big sew-in. And the new prong magnetic snaps come in 4 different tones. They are so sturdy, not cheap looking. And the price is well below what I've seen at the fabric stores. The magnetic snaps are the neatest thing for crocheted bags. You just push them through the stitches. What could be easier. And they had sew-in magnetic snaps that would be pretty easy to add if you didn't want the prongs to show.
Got so real neat books in too but they'll be added later, those take awhile to work on. Well, back at it!
In the Beginning...

I'm finally starting a blog. I just want to pass on what I'm working on for fun, for the site, what's new, and what coming. It's not all about buying and selling. I LOVE yarn and thread. And I know most of my friends/customers feel the same way. So I'll try to pass on what I've learned, heard, tried, and trashed. We don't need to reinvent the wheel and everyone has something to contribute.
Please let me know what you think about my posts. I have a tendensy to ramble. Hopefully that won't happen here. I want it to be relavant to yarn and thread and everything we make with it.
I'm in the process of eventually changing my website name to Creative Yarn Source. I think it fits my focus and goals much better. Crochet yes but much more. And I'm also changing my host and all my pages. My current host is terrible at consistency and support. Time to move on. So much of my site looks like a 1st grader did it because their editor just changes things at random. So I hope everything will eventually look better.
